Behind the Scenes: How the New Barbie for Preschoolers Is Made
Mattel recently released a new model of their renowned kids’ toy, called My First Barbie. The model is slightly different from the original doll, making it ideal for preschoolers. What can parents expect from this new model? Here, we’ll give you an in-depth look at the new version of one of the world’s most popular children’s toys of all time.
Barbie Now Available for Preschoolers
Since her debut more than six decades ago, Barbie has gone through all kinds of changes. The beloved doll has been an astronaut, architect, and anything else you can think of. But there’s never been a version that’s suitable for younger children. Well, there wasn’t one until now.
My First Barbie is aimed at children as young as three years of age. Mattel, the company behind the timeless doll, prides itself on working in constant collaborations with many parental organizations in order to make the perfect design that’ll fit anyone.
So, what to expect from the new version of our beloved plaything? Well, for one thing, the new doll is slightly bigger than older models, as the brand has received many complaints that young kids couldn’t play with the original Barbie. So, the doll has grown to 13.5 inches, two inches taller than the initial model.
My First Barbie: New Features
Mattel knew younger kids wouldn’t be able to deal with the clothing if it wasn’t altered to fit their skills. So, My First Barbie has clothing that is made with Velcro, running down the entire length of the garment. So, even preschoolers will be able to put on the outfit of their favorite toy. Another aspect that was changed was the doll’s eyes. They are slightly bigger than those of the original toy.
It’s not just the eyes that got amended, though. In fact, the entire facial features of the new Barbie model are more childlike. There are also various themed accessories available, including birthdays, school, and bedtime.
As Mattel put it, the new doll model had to reflect the needs of young children, touching upon themes and events in their own lives. Some of the brand’s representatives have said the aim of the doll is to help children learn more about their routines by putting their dolls to bed, helping them dress up for school or kindergarten, etc.
In any case, one can’t deny that Mattel remains innovative by listening to parents. Many of the previous Barbie dolls reflect modern society. And now, with this new model designed especially for preschoolers, the brand will empower even more children to play with the classic doll we all love.
